AND a lot of fun! Thanks to an excellent article in the Wichita Eagle by Suzanne Tobias (see our Jan. 20 post for a link to the article), we had over fifty students from the Wichita area attend our workshop on Saturday, Jan. 21. The students tried playing a variety of instruments, from violin and cello to flute, clarinet and sax to piano, trumpet and percussion. Many of the kids simply showed up and registered on Saturday; we were surprised and amazed by the temporary chaos as parents filled out forms and our Artistic Director, Laura Black, made schedules for each child on the spot.
The hours of preparation and hard work were rewarded by the happy faces of kids of all ages; their excitement and enthusiasm for playing music made teaching the beginning instrument sessions an enjoyable experience for all of us. The students were particularly receptive to speaking with reporters from KSN and KWCH and we appreciate the news coverage we received from these television stations.

A special thank you goes to our teachers: Laura Black, Ann Trechak, Michelle Yoder, Becky Schmidt, Phil Black, Martiya Schmidt and Nancy Trier-Metzger.
Watch for upcoming events of Camp Allegro Wichita. In April, we will be hosting Music Fest Allegro, an adjudicated event for student musicians on all instruments, elementary through high school. And our summer camp session of Camp Allegro Wichita will be held June 18 - 22. Camp Allegro Wichita is for all musicians: advanced, intermediate, beginners, even kids who don't already play an instrument. Check our website this spring for the Summer 2012 brochure and application.
